Our coach partner, Fahy Coaches, is a family firm founded in 1955 in Aughrim, ten minutes from the estate. Three generations later they run luxury coaches from 16 to 53 seats, with Wi-Fi, charging at every seat and drivers who have been taking visiting groups around the west for decades.

Planning From Abroad — Your Questions

Who is this for?
Any group of 4 to 50 who want a private base in the west of Ireland: family reunions, groups of friends, multi-generation holidays, touring parties, and milestone celebrations with a week around them. The whole estate is booked by one group at a time.
What does a week cost?
Build your own trip in the planner on this page and it prices live per person. The Midweek Escape card above is the starting point most groups from abroad choose: four nights Monday to Friday with breakfasts, two dinners, a day trip and the weekday discount on accommodation. The two week-long cards price a full Saturday-to-Saturday trip for 30 or 50. Accommodation, catering, tours and transfers are itemised, so you only pay for what you choose.
Which airport should we fly into?
Shannon is about 1 hour 20 minutes away and has direct flights from Boston, New York, Chicago and more. Dublin is about 1 hour 45 minutes and has the most US routes. Knock, Ireland West, is the closest at about an hour. Our coach partner meets any of them, and a group arriving on different flights can be collected in two runs.
Do we need to rent cars?
Not if you do not want to. Fahy Coaches, a family firm founded in 1955 ten minutes from the estate, run the airport transfers and the day trips in luxury coaches from 16 to 53 seats with a driver who knows the roads. You can still rent a car or two for freedom, and there is free parking for everyone.
Why do you keep mentioning midweek?
Because it is the better trip and the better price. Our weekends are usually held for weddings and celebrations, so a Monday-to-Friday stay is the easiest way to take the whole estate, the roads and the attractions are quieter, and the weekday discount comes off accommodation automatically. The calendar on this page shows both options live. Minimum stay is three nights, and we take groups of four or more.
Is it self-catering or do you cook for us?
Either, night by night. The Coach House has a full kitchen and the estate is set up for cooking together. When you would rather not, our chef cooks in your kitchen: Rustic, Select or Premium dinners, cooked Irish breakfasts, barbecues and afternoon tea. Most groups mix the two across the week.
Does it work for grandparents and small children?
Yes. The Manor House and Coach House have ground-floor bedrooms, the houses are steps apart across a lawn, and the glamping village is for those who want it, not those who do not. Tell us about mobility needs and ages when you enquire and we will allocate rooms accordingly.
What is the weather like, and when should we come?
May to September is best for the coast and the gardens, with long evenings until ten in June and July. Ireland is mild all year and rarely hot; pack layers and a rain jacket whatever the month. For a summer trip, enquire nine to twelve months ahead. Weekday weeks are far easier to secure than weekends.
How do payments work from abroad?
Prices are in euro. A deposit secures the dates, the balance is paid closer to the stay, and every payment is by card or bank transfer through a secure link. One organiser can pay, or the booking can be split so each household pays its own share.
Can you help us find where the family came from?
Yes. Give us the surnames and whatever you know, and we arrange a local genealogist to research the East Galway records and meet you on a roots day, with the coach taking you to the townland and graveyard.
Is there Wi-Fi, and can we bring a dog?
Wi-Fi throughout, and yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement. Ask when you enquire.
