Elopement wedding in Ireland — Ballinderry Park, a private Georgian estate in Galway

Elope in Ireland

Elopement Weddings in Ireland

Marry quietly at a private Georgian estate in County Galway — just the two of you, or your twenty favourite people. The whole place, yours.

Ballinderry Park is an elopement venue in the west of Ireland — a private c.1740 Georgian manor on 41 acres near Ballinasloe, County Galway, hired by one couple at a time. An Irish elopement here means a ceremony by the fire or under the trees, dinner cooked for you, and a four-poster bed upstairs instead of a taxi home — from just the two of you up to twenty guests, with elopement packages from €3,200. No function room, no crowds, no other wedding down the corridor.

Why an Irish Elopement

why elope in ireland — and why here

Completely private

The whole 41-acre estate is yours — no other guests, no onlookers, no schedule but your own.

A real Georgian manor

Say your vows by the fire in a c.1740 drawing room, or outside under 300-year-old trees.

Just the two of you — or 20

Elope alone or bring your closest people. Either way, it never feels like a function.

Stay the night

No driving off after dinner — your suite is up the staircase, breakfast is the morning after.

Made for photographs

Walled gardens, woodland, candle-lit rooms and west-of-Ireland light, all within a short stroll.

Genuinely simple

One venue, one conversation. Ceremony, dinner, bar and beds — we arrange it around you.

How It Works

your elopement wedding, step by step

1

Pick your date

Tell us when you want to elope — midweek and off-season dates give you the best choice, and the estate is yours either way.

2

Sort the legal bit

To marry legally in Ireland you give the registrar at least three months’ notice. We can host civil, celebrant-led or symbolic ceremonies on the estate — many couples do the paperwork at home and hold the ceremony here.

3

Say your vows

Fireside in the drawing room, in the walled garden, or under the trees — your celebrant, your words, nobody else around.

4

Stay, eat, exhale

Dinner cooked for you, a toast at the bar, and a four-poster upstairs. Breakfast arrives the next morning; the countryside does the rest.

The Setting

a georgian manor in the west of ireland

Built around 1740 and lovingly restored, Ballinderry Park sits in 41 acres of gardens, lawns and woodland in east Galway — about 40 minutes from Galway city and 90 from Dublin. Period drawing rooms, open fires, a candle-lit dining room and bedrooms with views over the trees: an Irish elopement as it looks in your head.

FAQs

eloping in ireland — your questions

What is an elopement wedding?
An elopement wedding is a small, intentionally private wedding — usually just the couple, or the couple plus a handful of their closest people. Modern elopements are less about secrecy and more about skipping the big-production wedding: you keep the ceremony, the dinner and the photographs, and lose the seating charts. At Ballinderry Park, elopement weddings take over the whole estate, so even a party of two has the run of the house, gardens and grounds.
Can you legally elope in Ireland?
Yes. To marry legally in Ireland you must give at least three months’ notice to a civil registrar and attend a short appointment before the day. Your ceremony can then be performed by a registered solemniser — civil, religious or secular — including here on the estate. Couples on a shorter timeline often hold the legal ceremony at home and have their full elopement ceremony in Ireland.
How much does an Ireland elopement package cost?
Our Ireland elopement package starts from €3,200. That includes one night’s exclusive use of the Manor House for up to 20 guests, your ceremony space, a select dinner menu, a beer and wine bar (cash bar) and continental breakfast the morning after. Extra nights, more guests, glamping for friends and add-ons like a photographer or musician can all be built on top.
Can we elope with just the two of us?
Absolutely — plenty of couples do. The package covers up to 20 guests, but two is a perfectly good number: the house is still exclusively yours, dinner is still cooked for you, and the estate is still all yours for photographs.
Can we elope to Ireland from the US or abroad?
Yes — Irish elopements are popular with couples from the US, UK and further afield, and the three-month notice rule applies wherever you live (the registrar appointment can be planned around a visit). We arrange everything on the estate side by email and video call, so you can plan your Irish elopement entirely from overseas and just arrive.
When is the best time of year for an Irish elopement?
Any of it, honestly — that’s the advantage of a venue with the ceremony, dinner and beds under one roof. May to September gives you long evenings and the gardens in full leaf; autumn and winter give you log fires, candle-light and better availability. Midweek dates are the most flexible year-round.
Is Ballinderry Park exclusively ours when we elope?
Yes — one couple at a time, always. When you book an elopement the Manor House and the 41-acre estate are yours alone: no other guests, no second function, no strangers in the background of your photographs.
What if our elopement grows into a bigger wedding?
It happens! The same estate hosts weddings of up to 120 guests with on-site accommodation for 50 across the Manor House, Coach House and glamping village. If the guest list creeps up, your elopement package simply scales into one of our wedding packages — same venue, same team.

We had the BEST weekend at Ballinderry House! Rowan and Joel went above and beyond — Joel actually created a full murder mystery party for us, complete with characters, clues, and a completely decked-out main house. It was so thoughtful and creative, and we had an absolute blast.

From the whimsical artwork to the ample gardens, Ballinderry Park was a treat through and through. Upon our arrival, Rowan started a fire in both outdoor and indoor fireplaces and invited us to use all of the amenities of this lovely B and B.

We had a fantastic weekend. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding — the ratatouille on the first night and the roast dinner the next day were both delicious. The views were breathtaking.

I stayed here for a weekend with friends for a board game event. It was an incredible venue for it. Many rooms, and big tables, and we were kept warm and cosy throughout. The facilities were perfect.

This is a great spot. The house and grounds are beautiful, we were given really nice home cooked food. The common spaces were large enough for a group, comfortable and warm due to the log burning stove.

I stayed here for a stag do with a group of lads. The hosts provided dinners on Friday and Saturday and a fully stocked kitchen. It is a fantastic old manor house but is modernized with all mod cons and the grounds are beautiful.
